Abstract

This publication presents research using poultry litter as a fertilizer applied directly to soybean at planting. Results indicate that litter is an effective soybean fertilizer that often results in taller plants but not necessarily increased yields. Litter applied to soybean at planting releases mineral nutrients in sufficient quantities to support high yield even for deficient soils. Application close to planting is recommended to reduce the potential for nitrogen losses to the environment.
