Abstract
This publication provides definitions for forage analysis at the UT Extension Soil, Plant and Pest Center in Nashville, Tennessee. It explains the current forage nutritive value parameters and their analysis methods. The laboratory uses near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) instrumentation with calibrations from the NIRS Consortium. Wet chemistry methods determine water content, pH, nitrates, and minerals. Forage testing is certified annually by the National Forage Testing Association.
