Turfgrass Science and Management, a Plant Sciences concentration, is designed for students desiring to pursue professions growing and managing turfgrasses used for golf courses, parks, athletic fields, sports complexes, and residential and commercial lawns. This concentration also prepares students for graduate studies. Students are encouraged to earn a minor degree in a supportive field such as food and agricultural business or environmental and soil sciences.
Turfgrass Science and Management takes pride in 100 percent job placement of its graduates. Mentoring hireable students includes facilitating internships where specialized skills are honed, such as Conlan Burbrink’s experience at Super Bowl LIV.
Sport safety has become a major concern in recent years. From professional sports associations to child leagues, the health of players should be a key priority. Under the leadership of Plant Sciences faculty, the Center for Athletic Field Safety and the proposed Athletic Research and Performance Center create groundbreaking resources for both communities and the biggest names in sports, alike.
