Three Free Publications Now Available Online<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. \u2013 The coronavirus pandemic is causing rapid\nchanges to our daily lives and the economy. Work hours are being reduced and\njobs are being cut across many industries. University of Tennessee Extension has\nreleased three new publications to help those facing a downturn to their\npersonal finances.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUT Extension\nis here to serve Tennesseans, in times of plenty and in times of want,\u201d says\nChristopher T. Sneed, consumer economics specialist with UT Extension. \u201cThese\nthree publications are especially helpful when encountering difficult\ncircumstances.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Triaging Your\nDebt During a Money Crunch<\/a> (Publication D 78) gives\nguidance to individuals who need to determine their spending priorities. The\npublication divides expenses into three levels: first priority, second priority\nand optional. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Identifying\nYour Resources<\/a> (Publication D 79) can help individuals\nbrainstorm different areas where they could receive help or support. This publication\nalso includes a brainstorming activity for families to consider how they could\npossibly produce income. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Steps to\nStabilize Your Financial Situation<\/a> (Publication\nD 80) provides guidance on how to prioritize spending and set limits, identify\nand evaluate resources, and contact creditors when facing a difficult financial\nsituation. This publication also includes community resource contact\ninformation and suggestions to follow when contacting lending institutions or\nbanks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each of these\npublications are available free to read or download from the UT Extension\nwebsite: utextension.tennessee.edu<\/a>. To obtain a copy, click on the \u201cpublications\u201d link in the\nmenu bar and enter the publication name or number in the search bar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
